"What shall I swear by?"

Aija heard Michael Davidson say his lines from below the towering ledge she stood on and she quickly searched her brain for her own. " Do not swear at all; Or, if thou wilt, swear by thy gracious self, which is the god of my idolatry, and I'll believe thee."

She didn't miss the way Michael slightly shook his head and Aija knew he was thinking what she knew. She sucked balls at being Juliet. Her words were monotone and had no feeling of love. She couldn't help it. Michael wasn't the best looking guy in school so it was hard to feel in character when she had to look at him constantly. This trying out for Juliet was feeling more and more like a mistake each minute.

Her eyes searched around in the crowd seeing her father and her aunt smiling and then seeing Andrew, Shae and Chris watching her as well.

Then with a quick glance to the right Aija found backstage and a pair of confused black eyes. Hikaru was looking at her from where from where he was standing and from the look in his gaze it was almost like she knew what he was saying, What are you doing? You can do better than this, Aija.

He was right; she worked hard as hell to get this part and as she heard Michael say, "If my heart's dear love--" She took a deep breath, smiling down at Michael before looking again right into Hikaru eyes reciting her lines in a new kind of spirit. These were words for him and she wanted him to know that he inspired her to do this.

"Well, do not swear: although I joy in thee, I have no joy of this contract to-night:

It is too rash, too unadvised, too sudden; Too like the lightning, which doth cease to be

Ere one can say 'It lightens.' Sweet, good night!"

Aija put a hand to her breast, caressing it slight over the nearly sheer gown she wore, excited when she saw Hikaru's eyes blaze and his jaw tighten. It was a slight enough movement for nobody to notice but she knew that he did. Her hand then came back to the banister as she glanced at Michael to reassure him that she was working with him still.

"This bud of love, by summer's ripening breath, may prove a beauteous flower when next we meet. Good night, good night! as sweet repose and rest. Come to thy heart as that within my breast!"

Hikaru smiled at her as she finished her dialogue and Aija's heart soared at his approval. She wanted it even more than the approval of the audience, but hey...that would be nice too! She saw Michael's bewilderment and heard his next line. "O, wilt thou leave me so unsatisfied?"

Oh, you won't be getting any satisfaction from me.

Aija smiled at that thought, the end of the act coming near. She had to end it with a flourish that nobody would forget. She smiled wide at Hikaru, who nodded and then look down at Michael.

"What satisfaction canst thou have tonight?" she recited.

"The exchange of thy love's faithful vow for mine." Was what was said to her.

Aija then said her next words to Hikaru making sure he heard the message. "I gave thee mine before thou didst request it and yet I would it were to give again."

She saw his mouth part with an intake of breath and knew she had given it. She said her last lines with ease and departed gracefully into the back of the prop hearing the applause. She gave the audience a better show than she thought she would, but she knew she gave the man she loved an even greater gift.

comments

It's a little weird being here in Dreamwidth. It reminds me so much of Livejournal and I haven't written in LJ since *looks back*...2014. Some things seem familiar and some things are new. But what brings me here? I actually am looking to boost my writing and while searching around Tumblr, I came across Rainbowfic which reminded me so much of Runaway Tales in my Livejournal days. It instantly pushed my urge to write and so here I am!

I don't see myself using this as a journal but as a way to keep up with rainbowfic pieces or just to drabble or brainstorm. But while I'm here, if I make new friends that will definitely be a perk!

Let's get to it!

comments
